Show Democrat Committee To Choose Next-Convention Next-Convention City Paul M. Butler, chairman of the Democratic National Com-mitete, Com-mitete, this week announced the appointment of nine members of the national committee to serve on the site committee in preparation prepa-ration for selecting the site of the 1960 Democratic National Convention. They are: William S. Potter, Wilmington, Del., Mrs. T. K. Kendrick, Columbus, Ga., Ca-mille Ca-mille F. Gravel, Alexandria, La.; Mrs. Jean Hunter, Elko, Nevada; C. Girard Davidson, Portland, Ore.; C. L. Chase, Watertown, S. D. ; Mrs. Beatrice P. Schurman, Newport, Vt.; Mrs. Nunley Sned-gar, Sned-gar, Elkins, W. Va. In announcing the appointment Mr. Butler said that several meetings of the site committee will be held during 1958 and the early months of 1959 with representatives of the various cities bidding for the convention before making a final recommendation recommen-dation to the full membership of the national committee. The committee will determine the needs for the 1960 convention, conven-tion, including hotel accommodations, accommo-dations, transportation, convention conven-tion hall, adequate facilities for press, radio and television and other details subject to consideration consider-ation in the selection of the convention con-vention city. The national chairman was authorized at the national committee com-mittee meeting on February 21 to appoint a site committee. , |
