Show o Water Board Aide Cites Need For Conservation Jay R. Bingham, director of the Utah Water and Power board this week confirmed Utah's critical criti-cal water situation in relation to expanding population and industry. indus-try. Mr. Bingham noted that "we felt the pinch of limited water supply in Utah 50 years ago." i He noted that, "now increased ! consumption of water in some areas are at the expense of other areas." As an example he cited establishment es-tablishment of industrial plants in agricultural areas which necessitated neces-sitated curtailment of agriculture agricul-ture in order to provide sufficient suffi-cient water for the industrial users. Partial solution of the problem, he said, lies in the ability to make better use of the water we have. Mr. Bingham cited the wastage of water in opening of downtown down-town fire hydrants and in the uneconomical use of irrigation water. |
