Show TO RELEASE ANARCHISTS. Several Societies Will Meet Tomorrow to Consider Measures. Chicago, July 22. A committee representing repre-senting over two hundred societies in and around Chicago, which have banded themselves them-selves together for the purpose of adopting measures to secure the release of some of the prisoners now serving terms in the state penitentiary for complicity in the Haymar-ket Haymar-ket massacre, will meet tomorrow evening and effect a permanent organization. It has been decided to keep the movement free from politics. The first work of the organization will be of a missionary character, and pamphlets giving a full history of the case, and the reasons on which the petition for pardon is to be based, will be circulated throughout the state. Many prominent men have become interested inter-ested in the movement, and there is a growing grow-ing feeliner that, in the case of some of the prisoners at least, the sentences were unnecessarily un-necessarily harsh. |
