There are a1out one hundred members of the American section of the Theosophieal society at yesterday's session. It was de cided to request every member of the organization to contribute $1 toward a fund for Colonel Okott, the retiring retir-ing president. The following executive committee was chosen for the coming year: E. A. Mere-sheimer, Mere-sheimer, New York; Alexander Fuilerton, New York; A. H. Spencer, New York; ElJiot P. Page. St. Louis; E. B. Rauibo, San Frau-cisco; Frau-cisco; Dr. A. H. Buchanan, Fort iVayue, Ind. ; William Q. Judge, New i'crk. Mere-sheimer Mere-sheimer was elected treasurer, and Judge reelected re-elected general secretary. Among the twenty-four councillors elected was Mrs. Ella Wheeler Wilcox. At the afternoon session there was an interesting inter-esting discussion on. "Is It Reasonable to Believe Be-lieve in Mahatmas?" Dr. Archibald Keightly said that the existence of Mahatina is a logical logi-cal conclusion of the law of evolution and abolition. A lady delegates asked why the Mahatma sages are located beyond the Himalayas, Mr. Judge responded: "Wo coulin't have thm in America, because the newspaper men would scout them oat aud choke out of them the secret they possess. Furthermore the Mahatmas bodies re not like ours. Should one of these adepts visit us here, our bodies would take fire and become be-come iucinerated."
