The friends of Dr. Briggs wanted delegates selected se-lected who would oppose the reopening of the trial, while the anti-Briggs contingent wanted delegates and alternates who would vote in the general assembly to have the doctor put on trial on the charge of heresy. The number of delegates to be selected is fourteen, seven principals and seven alternates. The vote for ministers resulted in the elec tion of Dr. Bliss, Ramsey, Lane, Buchanan, Sharer and Elsing, all anti-Briggs men. After Af-ter the announcement of the vote, Dr. Pax-ton Pax-ton said: "The, Presbytery in October voted to dismiss the case of Dr. Briggs, and now you send a solid delegation to the assembly to hang him."
