IT IS REFERRED TO A COMMISSION, Surveys in Which the Neighbor Buihled on His Neighbor's Lot The Question to be Reopened by the Council Tonight. There was a meeting last week been the city council and freeholders in plat "E" a province on the north side looking to a that will simplify the record and ebtablinh the location of lots for all time to MM The meeting was addressed by Eugune Ioremes who stated that under old inoccur-ance- e the builder nad huilded on his neigh-or- s lot and t ier irr.se what he want to learn was whether lie should accept the lines described by the present fences or as they Were show on the original plat. All he lesired was to have the records conform to the improvements. Freeholder Solomon cited the fact that the city councils in years past had guaranteed persons residing on Centre street the right to move oat their fences. He was followed by a numl'er of others wlitu Mayor liaskin stated thai while the council had authority to open the streets even if they cut through buildings it was disposed to make the best of the situation. It wanted to work no hardship on any one. A general discnasion them followed and councilman Vantland suggested that a com-missioner be appointed to enquire into and summing up the details submit a report to 'he counci" upon which that body could act. Colonel Nick Treweek concurred, and thought this the easiestand soundest method . of arriving at uu adjustment of the diffi-culties. C. O. Whittemore sustained this view and recommended that ihe commission consist of five members. To reduce the matter to an issue Council-man Wantlaud introduced the following: Il'solifl, That the mayor be authorized to ap-point a commission of three person to investi-gate and report a plan to adjust the difficulties Concerning iteeoti and lands in plat E, and that the sum of $60V, or so much thereof as may bo n ecessary , be appropriated to cover the work of such commission ; and that the citizens of pint K 1 requested to appoint a committee of three to confer with said commission. The mayor stated that the action of the committee would be subject to the ratifica-tion of the council. After some discussion the resolution was laid over until this evening. Colonel Treweek then called attention to the fact that some time since a franchise L was granted the Salt Lake I Sty railway for B the construction of a road on Center street. He cautioned the council that the street was Vtoery narrow and that it would be necessary grade it before tracks were laid. hi motion ofC. O. Whittemore, it was de-- T t ided to elect a committee of three to act with the council committee. Nominations were made, and E. L. F. Harrison, John Pike and Cyrus perks were elected. The matter will again occupy the atten- - tion of the council tonight.
