The French steamer Canada arrived at Puerto Cabelio April 13th. W hen making for an anchorage she was ordered to stop. The captain reversed his engine but a volley was fired, striking the bridge where thd captain and officers were standing. No one was hurt. The shooting was done by the government forces under Palaiio. No satisfaotion was given for the outra-re, and the captain decided de-cided to protest officially to the French minister at Caracas. It is generally believed be-lieved that, as Kojas Paul, a former president presi-dent of Venezuela, is in Fort of Spain, Trinidad, Trini-dad, they miotook the French steamer for a vessel belonging to Roias Paul.
