The following resolution was launched by Moran and others and action deferred for a week : Whereas, The cost of extending the water mainB under the present system, while ostensibly os-tensibly paid by the property owners benefitted bene-fitted thereby, is in reality paid out of the general fund oi the city, inasmuch as the amount assessed against the abutting property prop-erty for this purpose is used in the payment of water rates in any part of the city, and is being so generally applied for this purpose as to practically cut off all revenue from our water system; and Whereas, The pipes are often extended into localities where there are no prospects of the city deriving a revenue from water takers for a long time, wlrile the cost assessed as-sessed against the property is being gradually grad-ually unloaded upon the city through the transfer of the credit to other localities when the water-takers would otherwise, pay tin ir rates in cash ; therefore, be it Resolved, That all city scrip heretofore Issued Is-sued for all assessments on extension of water mains shall only be payable to the city treasurer for water rates on the land that was assessed for the said extensions and that the issuance for the said extension be stamped accordingly.
