As a cross-eomplaint the petition sets up: "Now, as the shade and fruit trees growing in our city contribute very largely to :ts beauty and impart so much shade and comfort to its citizens, and as they must be irrigated to live, and will not thrive on being sprinkled occasionally, to say nothing of the iuadequats facititics for sprinkling the entire city and the adverse ad-verse circumstances of most of the citizens, and as the canal is the chief source of our supply for irrigating the trees and gardens, if the irrigating water is shut off our trees and other vegetation will die, and our city will lose its lustre and its citizens made to sutler great hardships." A six-car special, consisting of four Pullman Pull-man sleepers, a dining and an observation car, came in tfiis morning over the Kio Grande Western on its way to the coast.
