Gilson in announcing himself as a candidate for mayor of Salt Lake City submits sub-mits the following independent platform upon which lie stands: First All laws and ordinances must and shall be enforced .or stricken from the statutes. Second I am in favor of a liberal expend- j iture of money for public improvements, but am opposed to expending; public money for individual or party schemes. Third I am in favor of at once procuring au additional supply of water, to which the city can hold title, but am opposed to expending ex-pending money on works w here the city caunot obtain title to water. Fourth I am in favor of improving and paving the streets, commencing in the most populous parts of the city and extending the work as fast a-s necessity demands. Fifth I am in favor of improving and beautifying the city's parks. Making them pleasure resorts for the honest citizens instead in-stead of, as at present, leaving them for the haunts of vice and debauchery. Sixth I tin in favor if at once strengthening strength-ening the police department that it may be able to enforce the laws of the city and protect pro-tect our citizens without the necessity of interference in-terference of other olticcrs. Seventh I am in favor of better sanitary regulations and a more determined enforcement enforce-ment of sanitary la ws and regulations. .Kighlh City work must and shall he. given to ci'izeus of Salt Lake City without fa vol it-ism it-ism as to just conditions "Let the beet man win." |
