The following fol-lowing proclamation was issued yesterday afterno ia: "By hg PirsidT.t of the United Staff, a ProcUt, ation.- It is a very clad Incident of the ma; velous prosperity w hich has crowned "the yes'.- now drawing to a close that its nelpxul and reassuring touch has been felt by all c ar people. It has been as wide as our country, and so special tha every home lias felt its comforting influence. It is too grat to be the work of man's power and too particular to be the device of his mind. To '.it i, the beneficent and all-wise, who makts the labels of mi-n to be fruitless, redeems their losses by his grace, and the measure of vt-hos givisg is as much beyond the Uiougutsof men as it is bevond his d jserts, the pra;se and gratitude of" the people of this favored nation are justly dua. Now, therefore, I, "Benjamin Harrison, president of the United State of America, do hereby appoint Thursday, the 20th day of o. ember, to be a day of joyful thanksgiving to God for the bounties of His prov'.dence; for the peace iu which we are permitted to ejJ' them, and for the preservation of JJ"0se institutions of civil and religious liberty lib-erty wiiich he gave our fathers the wisdom to ieT',e and establish and the courage to prec1 ve.
