Cherokee county has again been visited by a most disastrous raiu and wind storm, continuing con-tinuing until 4 o'clock yastcrday morning. morn-ing. Kailroad creek reached a hight only two feet lower than the high water mark last last month, when it wrought such terrible havoc. Many residents ou the Hats became frightened and deserted de-serted tbb.. Homes. Two houses which were moved from their foundations by the former flood were this morning carried into the Sioux river and dashed to pieces against the Second street bridge. Timbers and ruins of the last flood were also swept against the bridge, which went down early this morning. Two other bridges in tho city were also carried away. There were washouts on the Illinois Central between here and Sioux City, and also on tlie Cherokee Chero-kee division north and south of here. The crops are greatly damaged. |
