Show SOME IRRIGATION SUGGESTIONS. Coleael llintoa of the OoTerainsnt Bureau Bu-reau talks to Interested Parties. Colonel It. J. Hinton, president of the Irrigation bureau of Inquiry, au office established by the last congress, addressed at a meeting at the chamber of commerce yesterday, composed of members of that body and several others oth-ers who are iuterested iu the irrigation convention to bo held here in September. Septem-ber. Colonel Hinton gave the meetiug tho most tlattering encouragement of the success of the convention, and assurance assur-ance that it should have all the aid and assistance that the deaartment of agriculture could uivo it. Attention was called to the fact that the progress of this country had been iu waves, that it had made Ion? leaps from oue section to another. He predicted pre-dicted that the next rush of immigration immigra-tion would be to tno arid regions. Col. Hintou has had his .-ecretary in this city for several weeks gathering data. The information collated has been of the highest value and will be embodied iu a report to the next session ses-sion of congress. |
