Show TKI BUN 111 AI'.OCMKN r (?) Is it not laughable to see The Times take an extract from a Denver paper about Utah atfaiis and grow indignant over it, and iu the face of the old settlers set-tlers here to assert its conviction that polygamy is dead in Utah, ani that church rule never did exist iu this region? reg-ion? Surely The Times is working faithfully for its mormon patronage, and its conscience seems to be as elastic elas-tic as that of either the Saos or Ib rald. The other papers have an excuse. They are out and out mormon, and are working work-ing for mormon statehood. The Times is simply gross through natural instinct in-stinct Tribune, Well! If The Tim 59 is "gross" what under heavens is the Tribunel We quoto the foregoing paragraph from the liberal orgau in full to show the character of argument (') to which it is compelled to resort. It dare rot meet the issue drawn by The Times in the article to which it refers and so it resorts to cheap abuse. Let ut assure our liberal contemporary that, though it may be ablo to whip a multitude of men into line with Its purpose, it cannot can-not bulldoze this paper. Fear of its vulgar abuse may keep men from taking tak-ing a hold stand in accord with the dictates dic-tates of their cOnsoieoce.but The Times cannot be handled In thai way. This paper will continue to publish the everlasting ever-lasting truth, and if the Tribune does not like it, it can show its displeasure iu any manner thnt it pleases. The Times will coutinno to ventilate the insincerity in-sincerity of the Tribune, to nail its falsehoods false-hoods and to condemn itt disloyalty to tho best interests of Utah, and no cheap blackguardism wiil swerve it from its duly for a single moment. Poor old Tribune! We pity thee. |
