The petition of tho Western Rill Posting company was laid on the table. The communication of Simon Bamberger Bam-berger and others concerning a slago-lithic slago-lithic cement for paving was referred to the committee on public works. Fred May asked that the order concerning con-cerning the height of bis fence be revoked. re-voked. Rejected. J. G. Keed was qualified as special policeman, vice Alma Timpson. resigned. re-signed. 11. Kletting was given permission to pile lumber at the corner of First South aud Richards avenue. The petition of Francis Simpson askj ing damages for the killing of bis son, F.J. Simpson, was referred to the committee com-mittee on claims. The petition of William J. Strong and others asking that the sprinkling tax on the south side of Fourth South between Ninth and Tenth Fast streets be abated was referred. Walter K. Green and others asked that the sprinkling tax on 82 feet on Fourth South be remitted, and the thoroughfare thor-oughfare between Ninti and Tenth Fast be graded. Referred. The West Side Rapid Transit com pany ropreseuted that its 'present terminal ter-minal points were El Dorado on the west, and Seventh South street and and Secoud West street on the east; mat it was the intention of the company com-pany to ultimately equip the road as an electric line; that with the present eastern east-ern terminal point tho road did not pay expenses. Permission was therefore asked to operate the steam dummy engines en-gines now in use from the corner of Ninth South and Second West, east along Ninth South to First W est, thence north on First West to Second South, the company having a right of way for an electriu line over those streets. The petitioner agreed to use hard coal as fuel. Referred to committee on streets. Tho petition from Christenscn and Jensen asking permission to make water connections on Ninth East street was referred. The complaint of J. H. Bailey and others thai the Hot Springs railroad had not complied with the order concerning con-cerning grade on Third West, was referred. re-ferred. Judge Laney submitted the following report of business transacted in the police court duringthe mouth of May: Number of cases tried, total amount of fines, $4.4U$.05; fines paid in labor, 14!I0. The maps and profiles of the Rapid Transit company were approved. The suggestions of Treasurer Walden concerning certain revisions in liccuse bonds was referred to the committee on license. Recorder Jack reported that notices of intention to extend water mains on Lalayetle and North Capital avenues I. alayette and North Capital avenues and Columbus streets had been published pub-lished without jirotest. Jack asking that the cement ce-ment walk in front of his property on Third South street be accepted, and that tho tax be abated, be granted; that the petition of A. L. Simondi, asking ask-ing that the sidewalk assessment against the property east of the Knuls-ford Knuls-ford be post poned, be granted; that the petition of H. Pembroke, asking that the cement pavement in frout of his property ou Third South bo accepted, be granted; that the petitiou of J. E. Dooly, asking that the sidewalks in front of his property on Secoud South street aud West Temple street he nc. cepted, be granted. The report was I adopted. The committee on finance submitted the following report: "We, your com-m com-m ttee. beg to rejiort that on Monday the bids received for the jiast 2(10 $1,000 city bonds, issue of January 1. ii'.n, were opened in our presence. None of the bids in the estimation of the mayor, treasurer and ourselves appearing satisfactory, sat-isfactory, your committee, witn the mayor and treasurer associated, rejected reject-ed all bids received. We recommend that you give the finance committee, with the mayor and treasurer associated, associat-ed, power to negotiate the sale of said bonds at jirivate sale." The rejiort was adopted and the committee, com-mittee, it is understood, will uow pro-teed pro-teed to dispose of the scrip at its mar- ket value. The ordinance provides that any person who shall cut down, injure or carry off any wood, underwood, or shrubbery in Citv Creek canyon, within the city limits, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and Uion conviction shall be fined in anv sum not to exceed $100 for the first offense, or imprisoned for a period not to exceed 100 days, or both fine and imprisonment for any subsequent o Hi-use.
