Show NEW PUBLIC LIBRARY. Tli. rioneer Library Association of Salt Lake City a Go, Through the efforts of a number of good citizens Salt Sake is to have a new public institution, the Pioneer Library association. In about two months the associaton will open its apartments in the new chamber of commerce to tho public. This excellent movement Is generously assisted by the Masonic grand lodge, which organization transfers trans-fers tho 8000 books in its library on Main street to the new association, for which the former will receive 5t!0 shares of stock. Tho cap- ital stock of the new company, com-pany, $100,000, is of tho value of $25 per share. Tho anuual clues will be $5, and it is the intention to raise $10,000 that the new library will be properly furnished. It is proposed to purchase 2000 new books aud open the place with 10,0:Ji) volumes. Tho articles of incorporation incorpora-tion will be filed this week, aud the following fol-lowing gentlemen are the corporators: J. S. Scott. A. M. Grant, W. G. Van Horn, C. W. Bennett, Chris Diehl, C.H. Jack. J. W. Dounellan, Robert Hark-ness. Hark-ness. C. E. Alien, H. C. Lett, L. S. Hill, Fred Simon and W. F. James. Such a movement as this is worthy of all the substantial assistance tho citizens of Salt Lake may advance. |
