The house liaa five oc-cupants, Mrs. MeGoweu, three boarders and a rvant girl, an orphan, 14 years old. Six weeks o?o Mr. Roesor, a boarder, after taking a bath iu hij room laid his towel ucroes the arms of a willow rocker to dry. AVhilo absent the towel took fire, and when discovered the rooker and the carjiet were also burning. Some time later tho house took fire, and some household goods were destroyed. Since that time tires around the bouse have been so frequent as nearly to craze Mrs, MeGowen, In the last few days fires have followed each other thick and fast. A pile of , Ironed clothing on the sofa- in tho sitting room caught fire. The tablecloth caught fire and a large hole was burned in it, and instead of the blaze ascending it descended and charred the table legs. A l)ox of clothing wan found ou fire in the hall. The servant girl, who was; charged with causing all the fires, was j( at work in the dining room, when sud denly fire was seen at the bottom of her Bkirt, and tho next thing they knew the back of her jacket burst into flames. (Sometimes fire breaks out in several places at the same instant. Nearly ev il erything from the attic to the cellar has been on fire.
