With reference to the reported dis-covery of a very rich tin mine about forty-fiv- e miles tho city of John Pershmaker, tho owner, says the discovery of the vein was almost an accident. He had gone to what is known as the Diabalt mine for the pur-pose of examining the yield of metal bearing ores, uot knowing that tin had ever been found there. He found a shaft about SKI feet deep, which bad ptissed through two light veins of gold, iron and silver bearing ores. On making rt close examination of the sides of the shaft ho noticed a larie and very rich lead of oxide and tin. He ran a horizontal tunnel for a- short distance, striking a vein of ore over four feet wide and composed of a solid mass of oxide of tin, itvsaying from 50 to 00 percent, of the j pure aietal. A California invention has just been patented which bids fair to revolutionize the methods now in vogue for decorat-ing glass and porcelain. The object of the invent ion is to so decorate such sur-faces us to produce and permanently fix upon them impressions of figures, por-traits or scenery. A sheet of ghess or porcelain is covered with an emulsion, and after being sub-jected to a dry heat is placed over a pho-tograph, engraving, etclung or any kind of drawing. The glass or porcelain, after being sensitized, is exposed for about three minutes in a strong suu- - light, After the exposure is made the picture is developed by the use of cer-amic powders of any color desired. The powder is taken dry and sifted evenly in the desired locations and brushed over with a soft brush. Grad-ually tho images develop on the plates, green foliage, brown trunks and branches apiH'ar, vivid and true to nature. When the image is thus developed a thin coat-ing of flux is applied, the plate is put into a firing furnace, and the picture becomes permanent. Sail Francisco Chronicle. Success.
