At present the snow prevents the work of developing; from being pushed, but the company intends putting on a force of men in a few d:iys. The company is composed of good men. Pr II It. Wadman of Plain City is president; Peter Katv of Harrisville. Ir. ,fese Driver of Ogden, secretary and treas-urer. In tho lirst work a tunnel eighty-seve- n feet long was made. They now have another tunnel TO feet long and hope toon to strike tho lead. - Yesterday the regular quarterly of the Young Men's Mutual association was lield in the Latter day Saint's tabernacle. Reid, president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union gave some items for "Sunday Reflec-tion" in yesterday's Commercial. She , comes out on saloons, gambling houses, houses of prostitution and our Novelty theater. She thinks that Ogden needs a little reformation ere the sphere of an ideal city is reached. - The Union Facilic Sunday bathing train is constantly increasing in popu-larity and patronage. Yesterday they carried live coaches, filled mostly with young people, to the Hot Springs re-sort. When the special polled int the union deoot the crowd alighted and, with smiling countenances and peals of laughter, announced that they had en-joyed the trip immensely. - Whilo hold tips are being reported al-most every night in Ogden, the travel-ing public and employes at the union depot seem to be honest. A lady left on the Park City train yesterday after-noon, and forgot her satchel, leaving it in the waiting room. She telegraphed the depot police to look after the miss-ing valise, and described part of the contents. Mr. Riley took a survey of the waiting room and found a stray satchel. He was informed that it con-tained a black dress and a black silk shawl. The shawl and dress were there all right, but oilier funny little articles filled up the extra space. Our lady readers can guess what forms they were. The lady received her satchel. The labor troubles are getting more lerious every day. It seein-- i that as the carpenters gave in on their demand for J:U!0 per day of nine hours, they will have to go to work without getting what they now ask. Work is slack and has been for some time and a great many carpenters are compelled to do something iu order to live. Some of them want to work and others are de-termined to still demand recognition of this request. The strike mu.it terminate one way pretty soon. Almost every day one coach on the Central Pacific is tilled with Italians going west. They are all hilled for points on the Pacific coast and are gen-erally tough looking charactors. |
