Star District and the Tallyman Miue.-A Eiuh Shipment From tb fior'.htru Sight. Col. Walls concentrating mill at Ophir is now putting through 10J tons of ore a day. The work of separating the mineral from tho gangue, is becoming much better since the mill was first started, until now it leaves litlie to be desired. The loss in treatment has been reduced to such a low per ceutage that it cuts no figure. Tho mine, (Miner's Delight) has never looked so well, nor the bodies or ore so large, la some places there are breasts of mineral min-eral sixty feet thick. In addition to the lead and silver which the concentrate contain, they have lately been running liU to 40 per ceut in iron, which makes the product a particularly desirable one to smelters. Those who have lately been through the mine assert that (l-ouel (l-ouel Wall has enough ore in sight to justify him iu doubling the present capacity ca-pacity of his works. Mining KirhaiiK. There were several good sales spoiled today because there was a difference of a cent a share between buyers and sellers. sell-ers. One of the most promising strikes ever made iu the Cu-ur d'AIeues in recent re-cent times was made on the Killbuck, at the head of Lake gulch, about two miles east of tho town of Osburu, during dur-ing tho past week. The (ieorge brothers, broth-ers, Lee aud Will, of Osburu, aud a capitalist of Portland are the owner of the Kiilbuck, and already the owners have been offered a fair bonding price on it, but very sensibly refused the offer of-fer says the Mulane Tribune. All the work they are doing upon it counts.aud about eight or ten sacks of ore of a very rich character are being taken from it daily. Considerable ore has been shipped from the Killbuck iu the past by Mr. Cox, who had a contract to ruu several thousand feet for the ore he found. Mr. Cox, becoming blind about eighteeu mouths ago, work was suspended sus-pended and it was not until two weeks ago that work was again taken up with the most encouraging result. The hills along the South Pork are literally covered with prospectors from Wardner to Mulane. 1 lie Cn.'iir d' Aleue is the richest mining country in the world, and is the best prospecting lield south of the north pole, and don't let that fact escape your memory, either. Stmt Itntrict. II. Hefner received a letter from the superintendent of the Tallisman last night, in which that officer, among other informations, gives the following: The shaft is down to a depth of :!5 foet and a drift has been started on that level. The ore body is from one to three feet wide and assays 81) ounces in silver and 64 per cent lead. The indications for the property becoming a tiue minu are better than they ever have been, the formation is better and more regular, and the ore body better defined, lie-foro lie-foro sloping can bo done to advantage, it will be necessary to sink a new shaft." Mr. Heffucr expects to go down to Beaver next week ami decide where this shaft shall be sunk, and also t: lay out a policy for tho summer's development. Several other mines have been started up in Star district within the past few weeks, one of them, the Wasco, has opened a lino body of ore. Tho Wasco was looked upon by many as a poor scheme, having no merit at all, but the prospects now are that il will become a good producer. the incorporators of the new rompauv to prosecule a vigorous campaign of development de-velopment on the property aud determine de-termine its fertility as soon as possible. Killing- on Or hlpiuoOJ. Hutte Inter-Mountain. It has been ruled by the board of commissioner of the Western Traffic association that hereafter no associa-j associa-j tiou road may make concessions or agreements of uuy nature iu respect to business not covered by the a-sociution agreement which may have the effect oi influencing the distribution of business busi-ness subject io the agreement. This ruling is meant to prevent tho I'nion 1'acilic carrying ore to Denver, having it milled there and then carrying the pure metal at the same rale it did the ore. Haer uen. Mcsnrs. Clough, Hamilton. Ericsson A Hefner, have just marled a tunnel on this property located Iu Dry Canyon. The mine has three distinct veins wilh-i wilh-i in its area, the first of which will be j reached In the tunnel at a distance of J 100 feet aud the third In in 1100 : or 400 feet. The property ) has a record of having once produced 1 between :100.000 and $100,000 aud the I new owners feci confident that development develop-ment will again bring it iuto prominence. prom-inence. Mountain Tiger aud t:ll. James McEvoy came in from these mines in Ophir last night and left immediately im-mediately for his home in Colorado. In the K.ella and Mountain Tiger mines which ho is working on a lease, he has opened a small body of ore which assays lrom 85 to 111 ounces. The prospects for the shaft or drifts getting into a better body of mineral are most flattering. A High (irad Shipment. A shipment of ore from the Northern Light was received In the city a few days ago, which ran 'JOH ounces in silver, sil-ver, $i in gold aud 15 per cent in lead. Nearly all of the ore production of the mine is of an exceedingly rich quality and large quantities of it are always io sight, Dallr K.celpu of Ore. The ore receipts in the city today are as follows: Two lots of Alameda, 21 tons, two small lots of Sunbeam; 250 tons of Horn Silver; 4'i tons Bunker Hill; U! ions of Miners Delight; 80 tons of Caroline; 2i tons of York and 105 tons of Beulou. Cineernor an l.tna Rill, A contract has been let by the owners of this property for sinking a new shaft which is now down fifteen feet. The mine is well located on Lion Hill and its prospects are good for striking pay ore. No Mtnlag- Kichang Tomorrew. As tomorrow is Decoration Day and a legal holiday, it will be pntrio'tieally observed by the members of the mining min-ing exchange and there will bo uo meeting. I'uncent rations-Work rations-Work will soon commence on the erection of a new bolster for the Daly. The record of miueral output made by Pish Springs since it was discovered is a brilliant one. Electricity in mining is the coming power which will cheapen production aud possibly reduction. The Alice mine in Dry canyon has gotten ils shaft down 200 feet. It will take fifty feet more to reach the vein. Galena ore ruuniug 15 ounces in silver sil-ver and 70 per cent lead has been found iu the Defiance mine. Dugway district. George Arthur Uich has tnkeu rooms 33, Im and 31 in the Gladstone buildings, build-ings, as offices of the 1'intic sampler, The future of the north end of tho Tintic lime belt will depend largely on the developments made there this summer. sum-mer. Il is gratifying in the f xtreme to learn that the miners in Dugway district have gone to work developing their properties. proper-ties. Very large shipments of ore are being be-ing made by the Eureka mines, and one and two hundred tun lo.s are common receipts. Bingham is in a most thrifty state. Strike after strike lias been made and 'all of them holding out well. These have attracted tho attention of investors. invest-ors. That C. H. Schene has taken hold of the Shoebriilge mine with the intention of penetrating the sulphides ought to be welcome uews to the iniuors of Silver City. It is very rare to fine amiuing district handicapped by such transportation facilities as Fish Spriugs is and yet come to the front with such splendid strides as it has. A genuine discovery, one that will enter the lists of producers, near Ho-mausville, Ho-mausville, will mean that the resources of the lime belt of Tintic are almost incalculable. in-calculable. A suit has been brought in the United States district court of Helena bv P. A. Largey ngainst the Bluo Bird Mining company claiming damages iu the sum of Sl.SOO.OOO. When a prospector is nnnblo to develop de-velop his mine, if ho can find a capitalist capital-ist who is willing to do so undca lease and bond, it would be lack of business shrewdness not to accept. The Cumberland smelter in Montana, one of the largest enterprises of tho kind in the west was blown in last Thursday and is now producing bullion at the rate of a ton an hour. A leu inch streak of carbonate and galena ore is reported to have been struck in the Greeley mine at Alta. Assays of 5 ) ounces in silver and 04 per cent lead have been oblaino'.!. There is an increase, of the visible supply of copper and little prospect for an advance in tho price. However, this does not interest the miners of L'lah much, as they produce so liltlo. M. K. Evans has been mu ' h encouraged en-couraged by the ore found within the past few days in tho old workings of the Massachusetts. It may not be altogether alto-gether improbable that the mine may soon become a producer. The great sale of the Atlanta mining property has no doubt been consummated. consum-mated. The proper transfer has been made aud duly recorded. The consid eration was $;!, 700. 000. This scores j another victory for Colonel V. S. When asked what he thought of tho showing made by the Dalton he replied that such a phenomenal discov- j cry was not a surprise to him. About I.eail. Butte Int'T Mountain. The eastern free tradu pres. led by the New York Times, has lately contended con-tended that only a fe w western monopolists monop-olists owning mines in Colorado favor the continuance of the duty on Mexican Mexi-can and other foreign lead, and has asserted as-serted thai tho great bulk of the western west-ern people are opposed to that clause of the new tariff law which imposes a duty on lead. That this impression is wholly erroneous is proved by the fact that at the western congress just closed in Denver, and which was niacin up of delegations from every western state and territory, not a complaint of any character was entered against the pics ent lead schedule. The convention seemed perfectly satisfied with a duty on foreign lead. M uituoth Ao. 3. The location of this mine which was incorporated yeMerday, the particulars of which appeared in last night's Times is between the Mammoth and the Mammoth Mam-moth Copperapolis, and is believed by those interested, to be on the samo ore chauuel as those great properties. Smail bunches of ore have been encountered encoun-tered in the No. 2 workings from time to time that showed good values. John A. Shuttle had nu assay on a sample of lime, galena and chloride yesterday which gave him returns of 100 ounces iu silver and a small percentage per-centage in lead. It is the inteutiou of |
