Show The Feetlval or Fools. Detroit Free Press. The "festival of fools" was a feature of each new year with the Parisians. It began on the 1st of January and continued con-tinued for some days, duriug which all sorts of absurdities and indecencies were licensed. This feast was not celebrated cele-brated after the latter part of the Thirteenth Thir-teenth century. Fools or licensed, jesters were kept at court up totbi time of Charles 1, 1625, but the ancient feast was never revived by the people. |
