Show A Dainty t'overlne. Thecouvre pied is a dainty littlo duvet to throw over the feet on the lounge or across the bed. It may be made of India In-dia silks iu any delicate or rich artistic color. Tho best material to fill euch a soft cover is eider down. This remains a compact mass, and does not pierce any and every thing andfly about the atmosphere atmos-phere in an uncomfortable and nn wholesome whole-some fluff, as arctic down does. The latter is worth about one-eighth the price of the genuine down of tho eider duck. It is mado of tho down stripped from geeso feathers. Eider down is a soft fawn color, and does not fly into fluff. The price of it varies from $9 to $12 a pound, according to the market aud demand, but half a pound would probably be enough for an ordinary duvet. The noxt choice after eider down is pure, soft lamb's wool or tho silkenlike natural camel's hair wool sold in shops devoted to sanitary wool underwear. Lamb's wool is somewhat difficult to got, but can be found at some place in all largo cities. Camel's hair wool can be obtained at $1 a pound. New York Tribune. |
