' - And tiie Miners Union is Being Organized to Set Them to Rights. ' PKOSPSOTIHG IN EDBY HOLLOW. llinara Compelled to Board in the Oom-pan- j's Boarding House and Buy in the &tore. C Eureka, Nov. 14. Speccal. The great mines of the Tintio district were simply noticed in my first letter. ' Tho Beck, Eureka Hill, Centennial Eureka, Keystone and others were scarcely mentioned. Since then, how-ever, I have been down amongst their innermost depths and can tell you and the readers of The Times something of the great miues in this district. The Beck and sister mines in tho camp are well enough known to the public and need no eulogy from me. Ia the Keystone a day or two since a largo body of horn silver was uncov- - ered by Mr. J. H. McChrystal, who owns nnd operai.es it. , Shooting is of such frequent occur-rence that even Johnny Dillon indulged in four shots a day or two ago, and as the case is still in court, I will say noth-ing about it. A great deal of attention is being at-tracted to the camp just now, and large amounts of money are being expended. Among the heavy investors I notice "Kit Carson'" of Colorado stage noto-- ( riety. "Kit" has some fine property nenr Silver City. The grandeur of richness will be shown up in my next letter. Tho fine prospects and the large, generous and wide awake American , prospector is what attracts the atten-tion of the Times man at the present time. In Ruby Hollow, near the Mam-moth, a greit deal of prospecting is be-ing done. My poor friend Mike Ben-nett, an old time Colorado prospector, died a day or two since. Some other Colorado friends are interested In the camp and are making things howl, A minors' union was formed here a few days since, the object being, as I am informed, to protect the interests of the miners in this dis-trict. There is a wrong, a shame and a disgraco to our race in this camp, which the new union intends to abol-ish. The wrong is that every miner is compelled to board in the company's boarding house and buy goods in the company's store. The object of the new union is to counteract those arbi-trary rules, and show up American principles. The idea that a man who works faithfully and well the shift, whether it be ten, eight or twelve hours, ia compelled to board in the company's boarding house and buy his goods from the company's store. Business men of the town who have in-vested their all in mercantile pursuits are sore over the fact that the different mining companies are absorbing the business of the camp. This thing can-- ' not last long. Right and honor, and the American principle of every - "Free tnan his own master" must prevail here es elsewhere, and the union spoken of before ia bound to bear good and ever-lasting fruit. Just think of Tintic. Horn silver, ruby silver, stephanlte, and everything you can imagine in the mineral line is here In abundance. B, RAILROAD NOTES. ACTIONS ALONG THE TWO GREAT LINES. An exceedingly pleasant bacholor dinner was given at the Continental Tuesday night by Mr. Mullen of New Haven to a few of his friends. After-wards they nttended the opera. Among the guests were Messrs. Dodd, Munson, Kerr and Edwards, Quite a lively war was in progress in society circles this week over the ques-tion of full dress or cutaways at the new assembly club parlors. Before it was over a number of the boys were badly wounded, but no blood was spilled. The cutaways came off vic-torious, as the parties are very in-formal, aud the full dress boyR were "not in it." The first party of the new assembly club was held last night in St. Mark's school hall and was a success In every ivay. Among tho promoters of this nnjoyable club are Harry Shearman,! Max Smith, Graham Putnam, Kenneth Kerr, 'tt Bidwoll,' Billy .Read and others. Ward, McAllister gave many, valuable, hints to the boys. ' ' ' J. G; Mitchell's nig Buy. : John G.
