Show ' Dr. latt, t lyer Carer. ' " Sister Rose Gertrude writes to us as follows from Honolulu: "Dr. Lutz, the eminent dermatologist, who has studied the disease of leprosy in Brazil for teli years, has already effected some wondor-ful wondor-ful improvements in the patients under bis care at Kalihi, and the people do not know how to be grateful enough to him for his affectionate care and indefatigable indefatiga-ble efforts to restore them to health. , "Indeed the government has received numerous petitions to nominate Dr. Lutz as president of the Hawaiian board of health, to give him the charge and control of all the lepers or suspeots, and, although these are all tabled, it is curious curi-ous to see such demonstrations in a people peo-ple who, as a rule, are eminently opposed op-posed to treatment by foreign doctors. Dr. Lutz is also an enthusiastic bacteriologist, bacteri-ologist, and it may be hoped that eni long a prophylaxis and therepeuties of i leprosy may be mnde known to the j world by him which will prove more efficacious than the means hitherto employed em-ployed by either scientists or soi-disant doctors or leper curers."
