Show BLEEDING TO DEATH. A Terre Haute Man Killed in Defense ot Ills Honor. . ' Tkkke Haute; Iml., Aug. 23. At an early hour yesterday a mysterious shooting all'ray occurred in front of the home of Wm. Davidson, a fireman on the Vamlalia road. Davidson liciug found on his porch, literally bathed in his own blood and suffering with a bullet bul-let in his lung, by neighbors aroused from their slumbers by two pistol shots. I'jl- sev eral hours the police worked on the case, finally solving the mystery by arresting Robert Watson, a Vamlalia hrakeman, who, however, denies doing Iho shooting. Davidson's statemeut, taken today by tho public prosecutor, as ho is not expected ex-pected to survive tho shot, is that he has suspected an improper intimacy between be-tween Watson and his wife, and that ho laid for Watson last night and followed him into his house at a lale hour; that ho ordered him out and finally threw him off the porch, and that Watson drew a pistol and shot him. Watson had no pistol when arrested. He is 44, a widower, and boarded three doors from the Davidson residence. This evening Mrs. Davidson, who at first rclttsed to make abatement, revealed that Watson visited her house and that it was he who had shot ber husband. At the, tune of his arrest Watson was on board a train for Indianapolis. The wounded man, who weighs 2.T0 pounds is bleeding bleed-ing lo death and caunot survive the night. . |
