Show " THE SALT LAKK TIMES, Til URSlkV EVKiVUiti, MAV 22, 1890. - , Cliriout Feat or lb 'Wind. J. n. Love spent Sunday at his farm, near Christiana, and it was there that the incident occurred during the high w ind on Wednesday night, February l'i. Sir. James J. liodgo is a tenant on Mr. Love's farm and lives with his four children, otio a grownup daughter, in a little two-roo- frame house, 82x17 feet tn size. He says that near midnight be heard the house creaking like it was t about to fall to pieces, then there was a jar and nil was still. The children cried out in olarru, and he jumped out of bed to find that the house had been lifted from its foundations by tho wind, carried about live feet beyond them and deposit-ed fiat upon the ground. The bouso was not injured and not an articlo in it was broken. A lamp that was placed on the mantelpiece was not tiirown down. Tho next day the neighbors gathered and raised tho house and placed the foundation stones tinder it where it stood, arid the family is still living there as hcretofc-rrt- . The Tiouse is a well built little struc-ture, ceiled with pine planks. Nashville, American. ' THE COINTY COtllT. The ir'lsb and fiame OniiunlMlonar' Re port Itegurdlng Law. A session of tho county court was held yesterday afternoon ut which tho report of I. M. Barret, llsh and game commissioner was submitted. In ac-cordance with the law he represented that he hud often visited differ ent portions of the county for the express purpose of seeing whether or npt the garao and iish laws were en-forced. To some extent the laws had been violated, the, commissioner claimed, but it was impossible to de tect and bring to punishment the .I-nfringers of the law. By tho attempt to enforce them much had been aecom-- ! pHshed. During the last year the rep- - rehensiblo practice of shooting game nnd catching Iish out of season, has been restricted to very narrow limits to what it was heretofore; to eradicate such prac-tice iu toto would be impossible, unless the county would employ some half ; a dozen salaried men, who could and would at the proper season constantly devote their time to inspecting the mar-kets of Salt Lako city as well as travel-ing over the county for like purposes, hi certain localities in this county -- itimlin rnwriivU been offered for tho detection of any anil all jirrsous infringing the law. and t ho rewards were never earned. Still Mr. Uarrall thought thai, the offer ; iad a londe m;v lo prevent the violation of hotli I hit Iish and game laws. A petition from I!. A. M. Froiseth and others, asking thai; a county road lie made and opened in sections 10, V. 51, IB, 8 and 17, township 1 south, range 1 west, was referred to Judge Uarteh and Selectman Smith, A petition of Ji. M. Harmon and others, in relation to the opening of a county road on Second West street, as far south as Mousely's, was referred to Judge Barlch. The supervisor of roads in district Jin. 14 was authorized to expend not more than to repair a ilugway. An allowance of 812 per month was made Elizabeth Shields for the support of Murrin Shields Campbell, a pauper. The resignation of W. 15. McNulty, as .iiislico of the peace of Bingham pro-I'ine- t, Mas accepted. County Physician J. S. Richards was liiMructed to' report to the court in the matter of the idiocy of it son of Jane Honeysolf, whom he will examine. Tlw boy lives in South Cottonwood, and if found to be au idiot will become a county charge. The' report of tho county surveyor, determining the boundary of school district No. !W, was approved, and that of the coroner, relating to the inquest on the body of lleury Smith, was filed. D.
