Show THK W.O OltJiMUK WESTERN. An article cm tho rumored purchase by the Rock Island of the Salt Lake connection w hich appeared In Wednesday's Wednes-day's TlMKR, was not Intended to reflect upon tho Uio Grande Western road. What there was printed about a "three-foot "three-foot track" was applicable only to the D. & H. G. proper. Tho writer of the article was correct iu his statements when it is understood to what road they applied; but as it happens the rumored ru-mored purchase included only the Midland Mid-land and Uio Grande Western, with which roads the D. & It. G. proper has nothing in common save a connection at Grand Junction, it will bo seen thut the reporter got, mixed as between tho Midland and the 1). & R. G. proper. So far as the Rio Grande Western is concerned, there is not a better equipped road in the western country. Its track has recently been widened to tho standard gauge, and its eutiro rolling roll-ing stock, including locomotives, is bran new and of tho latest and most improved styles. |
