The census office has made public tho first results of the eleventh census in relation to state and local tinauces. It consists of a preliminary report of the indebtedness indebted-ness of 2800 counties in tho United Slates. The reports show that the principal of stale debts at the present time iB228,or,817. This shows a net decrease in the total debt during tho last ten years of if.M,-439,s84. if.M,-439,s84. by tho bonded debt having been decreased by $0-1,088,240 and the floating float-ing debt increased by $0,72.1,754. The decrease by. geographical divisions divis-ions have been as follows: Eastern j states, $11,200,117; middle $11,387,482; southern, $28,022'004; western, $3,752,- ! 020. ! The total bonded debt of the United States was $1,700,093,100 in 1880, and $719,178,570 in 1890. This shows a total decrease of $1,054,807,780, state and national, in ten years. The total bonded debt of 2890 counties coun-ties iu the United States and territories is $130,784,050, agaiust $104,403,753 in 1880. The floating debt iu 1880 was $18,745,831, while the present floating debt is $14,058,881, a decrease of $1,780,-450. $1,780,-450.
