Secretary Gillespie of the chamber of com-merce has for soma time linen corresponding with parties In the east who want to build a sanitarium here and this morning received a letter that was most favorable, and now there Is littlo doubt that the health hotel will be built. Mr. GJUesple has sent to the projectors maps of the city and has also gotten ligurcs on several pieces of property that would make de-sirable locations. The eastern parties will make a big affair and will put about l5t.0OO Into jt. They have selocted a site, and Mr. Gillespie said this morning that If the people, who owned It did not get away up beyond reason in their price. It would be bought and the work on the build-lu- g started at once. , THK SPOIITSMBN'B EXCHANGE. went to work early this morning putting up the platforms for the new sports-man's exchange which will be oieued iu a few days In the Walkercafe. Hollistcr" said, in reply 'to my polite challenge, "Ellis proposes . . . .to defend his announced toleration of polygamy." That is an error. I said I would reply to his attack upon me, and respectfully invited Mr. II. "to be present ami defend his propositions." did not challenge him to deny my propositions, but lo defend his own. In reply to this bo says 1 ought to be clubbed. The same, reasoning would have made him club Jesus for saying, 'let him that is without sin among yon east tho first stone" at the woman who had been indulging in practical Chris-tian polygamy. For a follower of "the Lamb of God,'" Mr. II. is more belliger-ent than there is any necessary for, ns Mrs. Partington would say. He says he might debate with me if ho eouid kill inc. That is no evidence that he has right on his side. It only shows that when a man is fullv imbued with theo-logical bigotry, lying and murdering come easy to him. Mr. Hollistcr is afraid, perhaps, to undertake to defend his own reckless propositions. I will allow him to send "Hollo" as a substitute. Mr. Hollister shows a lovely christian spirit when he says, "damn him and his theme and nil who listen to him." The "theme" was made by (). J. Hol-listcr, and perhaps it deserves to be damned. That Mr. II. should damn people who will not bow to him as a christian Baal is natural. "Believe or be damned" has long been tho cry of more brilliant theological parrots than Mr. Hollister. Tho peoplo who listen to mo nre In-finitely superior to auy one who could speak of thein as O. J. Hollister has done. Being intelligent people, they go, of course, where they can hear a gooil lecture. I do not 'condemn Mr. Hollister because he cannot appreciate a good thing. In abusing me and thirsting for my gore, he is only giving us his own photograph. It has ever been the custom of cowards to sling mud at tho man whose arguments they could not meet. Judging Mr. Hollister by his venomous letters it was such men as he who crucified Jesus. In later years, ho would have held office in the inquisition. Iu Geneva, he would have collected the green wood with which Servctus was roasted. That ho wants to kill mo is tho result of his worship of a God who, according to Mr. H.'s the-ology, roasted and murdered his own children. You can always si.o a man up by his conception of God. If I have erred in daring to lecture in Salt Lake without consulting the deputy collector, tho blame is his. Neither "O. J. Hollistcr" nor God have ever intimated to me what I ought not to say in public, Iu fact, J doubt if even the third person of the trinity has paid much attention lo what I was do-ing, being so busy inspiring sermons in behalf of a stricter observance of the Lord's day. It is hardly the fair thing for Mr. Hollister, a devout christian, to take my life without making an effort to convert mi and bring me into the fold, but I am not afraiillo die. I will reply to Mr. Hollister's attack upon me in a public lecture in the federal court-room, Sunday next, at 8:30 p. m., and once more I respectfully invite him to be present ami defend his own proposi-tions. In company with Mrs. Bailey ho visited Park City yesterday, and gave it as his opinion that the scenery was even more beau-tiful than over the Deliver & Uio Grande. The box is of iron with a glass front and will contain a key to the lire alarm box.' The performance given last night by tho New York circus and menagerie on Washington square, drew a tent full of peoplo. The circus is in every way equal to all that it advertises, and is worth tho price of admission charged. Col. G. VV. Hall is one ot the oldest show men on tho road. Sara McFlynn, tho gcueral niauager, iw a pupil of the celebrated Dau Rice, and there aro few towns in the United States where he has not assisted iu giving a circus exhi bition. Among the other interesting features are tho Tattcrson brothers, the world-renowne- d gymnasts, they alone com-manding a salary of $250 per week.
