Washington monument and the LIncoln memorial Then on to Ne NewYork York arriving there on July and visited points of interest including IncludIng including ing the statue of Liberty the Empire tate went vent 0 over er to the Hill nUl Cumorah where the sacred plates were found v which were vere translated by Joseph Smith into our Book of Mormon There is gOIng to be a monument erected on the very top of this hill in the near future Brother and Sister Dean bean Bean who are arc lIv living iv iving ing ng in the Joseph Smith home told some very ery interesting stories of how the plates plate were sere ere translated and the Book of Mormon wa was printed They also visited the sacred grove and saw the stream where early curly baptisms were performed Mr Woo Wood was very fortunate in being able to purchase a copy of the fir first t edition of the Book of Mormon by trading a fur coat valued at 00 for the book The next stop was as at Niagara Falls which was viewed ed from the Canada side and the United States On July they arrived at Kirt- Kirt land Ohio where here they visited the I Ku Temple At one time the I Ithe school chool s of the prophets was held on onI the second floor of this building and andt I It i t is reported that thit President James JamesA JamesA I A Garfield attended this school While in Chicago on July the they visited with Elder Lawrence Moss of Woods Cross who ho is on a miSSion there On Aug 1st they came to Council Bluffs where here the former SaInts Saints held a council before crOSSIng the Missouri river also visited the grave yard where many of the SaInts were ere buried burled at Winter quarters I They arrived home on Monday Aug 3rd after aftel having driven a total of miles |
