Show PITTSBURG SILVER PEAK MILL press blair nevada it is possible that the big mill will not be in readiness to run on the first of next month but if it is not it will be because of delays which could not have been avoided every day adds to the completeness of the structure and one has only to go through the plant to see that it requires now only a few finishing touches to put it in shape notwithstanding that an expert who was inspecting it a few days ago gave it as his opinion that it will require at least three months yet to complete the motors for the batteries are all in place and by the last of the coming week all connections for them will have been made and they will be ready to push the button and start the batteries on what manager hammond says will be a continuous run of days the batteries are all complete with stamps dies and feeders the water connections being all that is uncompleted in that portion of the mill the tables for the copper plates were put in position I 1 to receive the plates and the work of putting them in place will require only a few hours at the most the terminals of the tramway are about finished and that part of the work is awaiting the remainder of the cable wa which is expected daily when there will be nothing left undone the water supply for the plant is to be drawn from the well at the edge of the marsh and is ample for all purposes in fact the supply would be sufficient for a plant several times the capacity of the present one the well has been sunk to a depth of fifty feet the water standing almost at th top an effort was made this week to pump it out so that the foundations for the big pump might be put in place and two pumps of a combined capacity of gallons per minute were required to produce any appreciable preci able effect upon the water A reservoir of gallons capacity will be erected erect 4 above the mill and this will be kept filled at all times elaborate preparations are being made for the start A number of the stockholders from the east will be on hand and the big plant will be started off with considerable ceremony the progress that has been made in the entire works when one considers the difficulty ordinarily to be met with in transportation is certainly remarkable no ground was broken for any part of the plant until after the first of the year since which time there has been erected a structure which we doubt very much will have any equal in mining circles |
