am into the mountains those who have visited the kentucky wonder and also the one in nevada declare that the latter so far as it has been explored is equal to it in beauty and grandeur it is certainly worth while to make tile the trip to inspect it notwithstanding t that such a trip necessitates the hardships of a stage ride across the desert from newhouse for a distance of eighty five miles on enter entering ln the cave from the surface the visitor goes down a narrow passageway into a large room here the guide furnishes all with two candles apiece and the start is made through the mysterious depths through room after room some reful in the extreme because of their wild weird and ghostlike appearance others are more enchanting to the sightseer sight seer especially the one know dangling from the ceiling almost an exact representation of a fis hermans net and a good likeness of his catch Lincol ns monument is found in another place lake como with its springs of ice cold water and strange fountains is still another interesting te spot an angels wing is found in a small corner by itself where it cannot escape the notice of the observer A ladys side saddle is found in imitation but a feeling of sadness comes over one when the infants grave is reached so real is the picture presented to view the small alstone heelstone he the mound over the tiny coffin and the candles marking the corners of the little lot are there in the background is a striking image of the virgin mary still further back are a number of beautiful columns draped artistically by stalactite curtains all of which bring to one thoughts of things angelic the dance hall in which visitors have tripped the light fantastic is an inviting spot in fact there are hundreds of interesting places in this cave which really beggar description they are so strange and beautiful beautia ul the indians it is said keep their distance from lehmans cave and not one of them can be induced to enter for fear of being turned to stone their superstitions run high in this regard and any one of then them would rather suffer death than enter the portals of one of these freakish caverns the cave was discovered some years ago by a sheepherder who was dragging some wood down from the mountains while passing over the ground it is related his horse stumbled and in so doing broke off a small rock disclosing the cave below A little later the opening was enlarged so that a person could walk into it erect many visitors from afar have inspected the cave and all admit they were e repaid for the trouble it took to
