Show dr S W platt of park city with his associates socia tes is working the old baby mckee mine in the south fork of big cottonwood salt lake county utah the baby is just over the divide from famous alta and is a proposition of splendid merit with development along proper lines the baby mckee should make a regular producer and dividend payer at the meeting of the daly judge mining company operating at park city utah and which was held at jersey city a few days ago a new board was elected as follows H otto hanke president moylan C fox vice president george W lambourne bourne e secretary treasurer and general business manager william M bradley and albert C wall J J daly the former president and manager on account of poor health asked to be relieved from active participation in the aff affairs airs of the company and his resignation was accepted notwithstanding the desire of the company that he should succeed himself the provo inquirer states that R M vanderhoof of salt lake has brought suit in the district court against the estate of george tyng for a half interest in the wyoming claim in american fork canyon the plaintiff alleges that he was sick in the hospital at salt lake when the deceased represented to him that the property was of no value and that lie was going to quit operating in that section the plaintiff also states that he disposed of his half interest to the deceased for the consideration of 1 and he alleges that the deceased knew at the time of the transfer that ore had been encountered and that lie he the deceased cea ed did not intend to cease the operation of the mine from which it is s stated ore to the value of has since been taken W H jones of salt lake who is heavily interested in thi the property of the cedar mining company operating in deaver beaver county utah returned last week from a visit to this prospective bonanza with which he is well pleased mr jones states that the new hoisting works at the mine have been installed and that in the mine workings a four foot body of ore is exposed which should average about 80 to the ton this ore body has been opened by drifts from the shaft on the different levels and is developed to such an extent as to afford goodly areas of ground so as to admit of quite heavy shipments in the near future the company has expended about during the past few months in mine improvement and equipment and is giving employment to a force of seventeen men last week two consignments consign ments of ore were made to the valley smelters shelters sm elters one of which represented fifty tons of high grade ore john E merritt of milford utah who was in salt lake a few days ago on mining business informs the mining review that a great copper strike had been made in the property of the duluth exploration company of which he is manager the duluth holdings are located in beaver lake district and the property is in the immediate vicinity of the copper mountain and beaver copper resuming work in the bottom of an old incline shaft mr merritt began a crosscut cross cut and within a distance of a few feet opened up fifteen feet of ore with neither wall in in sight the whole mass as says from 2 to 30 per cent copper and an d six feet of the ore body goes from 15 to 17 mr merritt has already shipped two carloads of ore to the salt lake market and he expects to maintain regular consign ments to the smelters shelters sm elters from now on this splendid showing which was almost unexpected has created added interest in the mining industry of beaver county and it cannot be very long now before other properties in beaver lake district will f ind find a place on the shipping list |
