Show IDAHO salmon herald the grizzly hill group of nine claims at the head of canyon is being opened up by extending the tunnel ahead under contract they are crosscutting to the lead which at the surface is a beauty to the mining eye silver and lead are the contents and they have some excellent ore ahead of them it belongs to W P stone J H russ ross and abid others salmon herald the allie mining company developing property in the vicinity of the gilmore mine last saturday afternoon encountered two feet of high grade lead ore in what is known as the gilmore tunnel this is a long crosscut tunnel started some months ago and which has been driven this winter by contract A telephone message from there says the ore looks as fine as anything yet discovered in that country this is not the famous ruth vein on tile the allie group where they have over four feet of shippable ore but another perhaps bigger vein and it is thought that drifting upon the new discovery will open up a bonanza E C ross is the general manager of the allie and the claims of the company are now being patented about has been expended on the property and the owners are pr prepared to spend much more weiser signal george irwin of the goodenough mine was here to the marshall lake country thursday I ito he to will take in a pack train of supplies supplee s as he goes they are now working fifteen men in the goodenough blocking out ore for the mill which will start in april he reports a new strike in the west goodenough of a thirty two inch vein of fine milling ore that is increasing in size and value with every days work on it it is believed by him that this new strike is merely a part of the ledge formerly struck measuring eighteen inches he seems to think that the marshall lake country is going to have the best year in its history and the activity at this time in that section bears out his statement the entire section is busier this spring than was ever known before at this time of the year and everything seems to point toward prosperity wallace times the vein encountered in the advance tunnel some weeks ago has widened out from a foot or so until now it fills the entire surface of the tunnel according to the statement of pat roddy original locator of the property and who is working at the advance the whole face of the tunnel shows blue quartzite iron and a little galena said mr roddy and the rock is getting harder the men have gone only a few feet in the drift since striking the ore recently having been engaged in re timbering the tunnel the advance is located near mullan and is under the management locally of joseph acting for the owners missoula parties mr roddy originally located the claims and stated that the advance ground was the first ground surveyed on that side of snowstorm hill being surveyed previous to the survey of the snowstorm ground wallace press we are now working about 70 men said john mocie manager of the snowstorm today we are shipping over tons of ore per day and in less than a month will be shipping tons a day the ore now shaped goes to tacoma the granby smelters shelters sm elters at grand forks B C t and great falls we will begin shipping ore to the washoe smelter in anaconda as soon as it starts which will be in a few days we are adding to our force slowly but steadily salmon herald charles schultz was in town saturday from the U P mine he has h as been busy tor for ten weeks very busy on a contract for underground work ou oo the main ledge of that property in ane time stated he has driven no 5 tunnel feet ahead and raised feet from no 6 to no 5 levels to make such speed in the space of ten weeks is sure going some aie the work was finished sunday silver city nugget all there is to be said regarding the banner this week is that work has been going on satisfactorily at both the mine and the mill at the latter the nissen stamps of the battery are in place and the heavy framework above them has been completed the pans and settlers with the machinery to run them are all set up and ready to attach the motor to run them the concentrator floor below the batteries requires only to be cemented before the concentrating tables will be put in place setting the electric motors putting on the pulleys and belts and setting up the transformers which can all be done before the tramway can be constructed to carry ore from the mine to the mill will complete the long expensive job for the same cause the delay on the completion of the tramway development work on the mine is only being continued by the usual small force of men A few more men will be put on soon to prepare the slopes for taking down ore |
