Show SOUTH DAKOTA deadwood pioneer times superintendent james D hardin of the branch mint mining company who just returned from new york yesterday entertained at the companas comp anys property at galena a party of deadwood newspaper men and his two guests harvey J ubert a new york banker and robert P murphy the proprietor of the albany hotel in new york city the party spent the day at the mine rode over the four mile railroad constructed and owned entirely by the company went through the big ton mill which has just been completed and also through the workings mr hardin expects to start the mill within the next two weeks needless to say the party was well fed at the hardin home and returned in the evening to deadwood deadwood pioneer times that the minnesota mines company will have its new ton mill in operation on its property near maitland within a few weeks is the assertion of president F E B little of minneapolis who is here on a visit president little is more than satisfied with the condition of affairs at the property most of the construction work on the mill Is completed and the machinery is on the ground with the exception of the compressor and the filter press which are expected here shortly A force of miners is being kept at develop ment work and has just completed another upraise for the better ventilation in the workings the main work consists now of drifting to expose the ore bodies and every effort to make a first class property of the minnesota mines company is being made lead daily tribune at noon today the water in the homestake Home stake measured four feet seven and one half inches on the eleven hundred foot level and for the first time the men are able to get into the pump room level it is now expected that by thursday night this room will be entirely free from water and the work of putting the pumps again into working condition will begin it is impossible to say now what the condition of this important piece of machinery will be but judging by the machinery on the upper levels it should not be seriously injured under such conditions it will probably be in running order by the middle of next week however as the pump ordinarily h handles only the natural flow of water into the mine the work of un watering by present methods will continue for some time yet |
