Show WATER POWER FOR MINERVA statesman boise idaho walter S brown recently from ogden utah largely interested in the minerva mine at atlanta is ft in the city waiting for an opportunity to get in to the mine he claims atlanta as his home and will bring his family to that place for the summer mr brown says that the company has the machinery ready for installing water power instead of steam for running the mine 1 ind and mill they have their 10 stamp mill located on the bank of grouse creek handy to power purposes they have been running the mill steadily for the past year by steam power but steam is very expensive wood costs 5 a cord and they use 1200 cords annually the development of the water power will give them much cheaper power as well as more of it to use for lighting and other purposes the minerva has a large vein of ore running up to twenty feet wide and now developed to a depth of feet about 00 60 per cent of the gold values are being saved by amalgamation and considerable of the remainder through concentration of the residue from the plates the exact percentage has not been figured out but the company has a large quantity of the concentrates running to to the ton stored away from the tables A new cyanide plant has just been finished and put in operation by which it is expected that they will save 85 to 90 per cent of the gross values of the ore whether they will cyanide tho the concentrates or ship them out has not yet been decided the ta illings for thy the past year have been banked and will be treated by cyanide as will all the future tailings mr brown is confident that atlanta will in the near future be the best small camp in iii idaho the ore bodies are not on the same scale as the coeur dalene ore deposits but there are enough of them and rich enough to make prosperous mining with mr brown was W T oden lately from mexico who is going in as foreman of the minerva mine |
