Show IDAHO wallace mines and metals we learn that the pennsylvania coeur dalene min ing company whose property is located on the headwaters of eagle creek east of murray and on which there was recently a significant strike has several tons of fine ore on the dump taken out in the course of development by drifting on the vein some of the eastern heavy stockholders will soon visit the property salmon recorder probably the most important discovery in the local mining world of the past year was made by john south harry weidner and arthur ludwig i of blackbird on musgrove creek thirty five 0 miles west of salmon this discovery consists of a porphyry quartz dike of immense 0 dimensions and carrying high gold values i it if this great ore body had been found in a 0 nevada desert or in the lee ice zone of the north forth it would have caused a stampede hailey times J 0 cauvin secretary jand and treasurer of the flynn consolidated id aho mines company of butte mont who R jame ca me to look over the fourteen claims of his company at the head of 0 the warm springs creek left for butte last jast evening atter alter spending two days atthe at t the fhe property he says that the vein is thirby to three hundred feet wide and that he walked upon the droppings crop pings for feet if the samples that he took average 5 in free nikal metal the property is one of the most stupendous in the world idaho city world harry L woodburn has quit east hill the big placer deposit which has been profitably worked for over thirty years and next year will work ground on gold hill which since early days has been the property of peter donahue mr woodburn has purchased this claim he has considerable work to do including repairs on the christie ditch constructing new flumes blumes and laying pipe seven hundred feet of 22 inch pipe will be laid from east hill to carry the christie ditch water to gold hill and feet of 18 inch pipe will be laid from the plowman ditch to gold hill mr woodburn now has a crew of men at work and will soon increase the force he will employ thirty or forty men all summer and f fall all wallace mines and metals numerous samples from the gold strike on the pilot property at murray are arriving in wallace and some of these are a sight to behold though broken out of the ledge they are literally describable as nuggets so rich with gold in the free state are they it is hard to estimate just what some of these specimens will go in the royal metal but it is safe to say not less than per ton john P deputy county clerk showed us a sample of the ore spotted with free gold in sizes as large as a pea besides a large percentage of the ore is gold telluride no doubt from the present showing at the property the strike will eclipse anything found in the boom camps of southern nevada quantity and richness both considered emmett index A meeting of the directors of the thunder mountain railroad was held in boise last week F W hunt of emmett was added to the board of directors the sum of was appropriated at the meeting to make a survey to pearl and to purchase the state and government rights to be crossed by the line of the road this survey is to be started by july 16 A rough sketch of the southern portion of the line of the road to thunder mountain has been prepared showing the route to be followed there will be two lines to fern a point on the payette a short distance this side of alpha one of these according to the plat is to run up the boise river and moore and grimes creeks thence to the payette in the vicinity of garden valley the other route is to be via pearl and horseshoe bend spokesman review keen interest is taken here in the reported negotiations for the sale of the great hercules mine it is believed that negotiations are in earnest and and that a sale is probable it is ig said that the american metals company is behind jay P graves in the recent examination of the property and that J langeloth of that company who is also associated with mr graves in granby is putting through the deal at the same time knowing ones here are my mystified stifled by the news from fram san francisco that the hercules company has entered into a new contract for the treatment of its ores by the selby smelter at san francisco the selby smelter is practically owned by the AmZ american rican smelting smelling Sm elting refining company the trust and the american smelting smelling Sm elting refining company acquired an interest in the hercules some time ago meadows eagle C S verrill W B kehoe and C E stevens agents for the bag dad chase gold mining company completed a deal with frank B thornburg monday evening whereby their company was given an option on the upper or southern end of rock flat the gentlemen left for boise tuesday morning but mr stevens will return in a few days and begin active operations toward the work of development which will be prosecuted to the fullest possible extent this summer buildings will be erected for boarding and bunk houses the first thing the property includes a portion of the old bay city property which was abandoned owing to bad management on the part of those in charge the word graft being freely used in connection therewith the property will now have a fair trial and it is generally conceded that the ground is very richi rich there is very little doubt of the success of the venture silver city nuggett six miners are now employed running the crosscut on the home stake george one of the owners of the mine has constantly insisted that all the former prospecting work done by the party holding the bond on the property was done in the wrong place and the tunnel run parallel with the ledge and he made it a condition of extending the time on the bond that the further work should be done where he directed it this has been done with the result that the new tunnel has been run forty feet in fine looking ore green adams was over there yesterday and brought in samples which he will have assayed adams says he believes from surface indications the ledge will prove to be feet wide and if his samples only go five or six dollars that it will prove a great mining proposition ti 1 on as the ore can be cheaply reduced being very near the swan falls electric power line with plenty of water near by for milling purposes mr S B Long fellows son is on the ground in charge of the expense accounts and mr is superintending super intending the work boise statesman J B eldredge has returned from a trip to the big creek district where he went to look after the work on the penn idaho property he found the mine looking looking well and is highly satisfied with the showing during the winter and spring the men have been engaged in driving an adit tunnel to open the ledge this has shown much rich ore and large bodies ot of lower grade rock it has not been driven far enough to reach the rich shoot disclosed on the surface and may have to go feet further to get into it on the surface this rich shoot has been opened for several hundred feet at one point a crosscut cross cut tunnel was driven across it at a depth of about fifty feet mr eldridge re sampled the ore in that tunnel during his stay at the mine and the samples ran up as well as those taken last fall it is this shoot for which the tunnel is being driven the management didiot did not expect to find rich ore until that shoot should be reached but they have been agreeably surprised in finding a number of good sized shoots of high grade while the entire ledge carries values |
