Show OPENING OF NEW MINERAL LAND IN WYOMING denver mining reporter on july 1 ast 1st next the shoshone indian reservation in wyoming will be thrown open to entry by the usual system of registration and drawing five registration offices have been designated signa ted by the government viz casper lander shoshone thermopolis Thermo polis and warland the first three mentioned are now or will be on the line of the northwestern railroad while the two latter will be more easily reached by the burlington there are over one million acres of land mineral and agricultural that will be open to entry and the expectation is that the state will derive immense benefit from the settlement and prospecting of this area from a mining point of view considerable interest attaches to the opening of the reservation on account of discoveries of free gold made in the surrounding country to the east especially has some excellent gold bearing quartz been found on that side of the reservation the big hern river cuts the geological formations for many miles and as it is just just to the east of the river where the late discoveries have been made it is confidently believed that prospecting pro to the west of the river and in the Te reservation will reveal equally valuable mineral land it is along this line that these familiar with the situation will make their entry the reservation is now patrolled by federal troops who prevent any prospecting prior to the drawing should the settlement of this area result in the establishing of a new mining district in wyoming it will have the advantage of ample railroad facilities early in its history the northwestern company is now building from casper to lander which is en cn the southern boundary of the reservation and the burlington is entering the legion from a more northerly point the serious handicap which the encampment district has suffered for so long will thus be obviated and one of the first aids to a new mining country be supplied |
