Show SOUTH DAKOTA lead city tribune superintendent A H oleson of the homestake Home stake south extension mining company states that work on his property is progressing in good shape of the two tunnels run from the bottom of the foot shaft crossing the formation the one to the east has leen been driven fek feet and the one to the west has reached a length of feet thus jar far all work has been done by hand but within a short time a horse power compressor will be installed and a horse power hoisting plant will be in operation the machinery was contracted for by mr oleson during his recent visit to denver electrical power will be used furnished by the consolidated light and power companas comp anys plant at pluma mr oleson further declares that the eight hour shifts which he put on the first of the year are giving entire satisfaction in fact there was more work accomplished during january than was done in the preceding months under the old ten hour plan lead city tribune another strike in the custer peak territory made within the last few days established the fact that that district must be seriously considered as a coming copper country the custer peak company has for over a year past had a copper vein exposed that is large and permanent and now on the property lying to the south another copper prospect hasteen has been opened up the new find is on the ground of henry ross a prospector who has been working in that district lor for six years past he has held a large tract of ground lying south of the middle fork of ox elder creek and with a little assistance has done a large amount of work principally in the way of assessment but has found time to do considerable sid erable development in a systematic man ner up to the present time he has opened up a number of gold prospects that have been of more or less value but since the discovery of copper on the ouster custer peak ground he has devoted most of his time to prospecting for that metal |
