Show ARIZONA kingman miner A P F muter has leased the old tailings dumps at the klondike mill and is preparing to work them through a cyanide plant on the colorado river the dumps are said to give big values in gold and are ideal for cyaniding cyan iding kingman miner J M parley farley of the san diego mining company is in kingman awaiting the arrival of a mill that is soon to be placed on the roadside mines in the union pass section the mill is to have five stamp capacity and will be used to test the ores of the property and will later be added to with an up to date plant kingman miner considerable excitement is being evoked by the recent strikes of rich gold ore in the section of country south of kingman the veins of that section are proving up well with work and below water the values are maintained at the mckesson mines the work has developed good bodies of ore at a depth of from thirty five to fifty feet water was encountered in the veins at a depth of thirty feet and it is thought sufficient will be opened up to supply the needs of a small milling plant kingman miner J F carter came in from goodroad Gold road tuesday last with a large bar of bullion the result of a cleanup of the lovin carter lease of the seepage from the tailings dumps of the gold road mill the gentlemen have had their plant in operation the past eighteen months and have made a large amount of money from it they pump the percolated waters that ooze from the tailings dumps into tanks where it is sweetened with lime lima and then ahen it is run under small pressure through filter presses and into the precipitating vats A saving of about to the ton of water is saved by this process and about twenty tons are treated daily the only cost in the work is a small amount of lime some cyanide and the electric pump used in the work clifton copper era work is progressing ing steadily at the king mine of the new england and clifton company the main shaft is being sunk from the to the the 1000 level where a crosscut cross cut will be run to cut t the vein at that depth regular shipments of from 40 to 50 tons of ore per day alq e being made from the property to the shannon smelter which yield a handsome profit two main working shafts are ae a e being sunk on the companas comp anys property at metcalf it each shaft has been equipped with horsepower horse power engines the shaft on the antietam is going down in good GL shipping ahping ore and d has now reach a depth of about feet fee the e shaft on the ohio is being sunk be aleen een two feinsand veins vein sand and when it attains attala s depth t a crosscut cross cut will be run in each direction to cut the veins it is probable that shipments will soon be commenced from that section as there is already a considerable amount of ore on the dump the ore is of a good grade and will materially assist in carrying on the extensive development work now under way tombstone epitaph the tiffany turquoise mines are located in the gleason district cochise county about eighteen miles east of tombstone turquoise is a beautiful gem stone colored with cupric oxide and much admired the gleason di district mines are among the most valuable in the country and recently they have been actively started again by the famous new york diamond and gem dealer several expert men are at work in the mines now and all the ground is being thoroughly and carefully prospected turquoise is increasing in value on the markets of the world and hence the activity usually the sky blue formation comes out in thin stringers it is most carefully mined and every precaution is taken not to fracture it it is not a plentiful material and only an expert can tell its value unusually though not always it is found in copper districts tiffany controls most of the turquoise mines in the country and many beautiful gems have been made from material taken from the cochise county mines azurite copper is sometimes mistaken for it the real article is of a delicate sky blue tint its value depends largely on its color and freedom from flaws the turquoise from the gleason district is s said aid to be of the best |
