Show THE SILVER CROWN MINE times halley hailey idaho J F an and d J M williams came to halley hailey yesterday with C C to close a deal for their silver crown and silver con properties just below carrietown Carrie town in addition to a handsome cash consideration they will receive a large sum for their claims on or before january 1 1908 the silver crown lead was discovered by jack williams late in may while making a trip to the dollarhide mine on business for mr air late in june the two brothers started a crosscut tunnel to cut the ledge at 40 feet from the surface and after driving 50 feet a vein averaging four feet wide and filled solid with ore from wall to wall was discovered since then unassisted they have driven feet of workings on the vein the ore maintaining its full average in size and quality the vein being in a draw rises at either end and at the west will afford feet of backs on either end of the drift the ore shows improvement pro being the lowest working in the valley the vein affords a means of learning what may be expected of the other in the district at the same depth there is no gange to speak of but a band of tale talc or gangue from four inches to a foot thick lies on the hanging wall the ore is very friable concentrating and will probably mill five to one the values range from 10 to 50 ounces in silver 2 to 3 gold and from 5 to 35 per cent in lead with a probable average of 15 per cent lead 20 ounces in silver and 2 in gold the walls are very hard and smooth being lime shale on the foot and lime on the hanging A short distance up the hill is a massive porphyry dike for 2500 feet to the west where openings have been made showing lead silver ore at various points the outcrop shows copper stains as does the ore in the main workings the con cei will wil 1 probably carry a fair percentage of copper the persistency of the vein is one of the best features of the property as it is easily traceable into the carrie leonard group where it appears massive back of the above the carrie mill it will be opened by the dollarhide company which is now working fifteen men on the carrie group the vein is a new discovery and may be the mother lode of the district as it has a traceable length of over feet it differs from all other lodes in the district as it dips to the nor north th instead ot of the south and runs east and west the other veins dipping to the south and running northwest and southeast wherever opened it shows strong carrietown Carrie town presents ants A lively appearance at present all the houses are occupied and crowded the new mill of the dollarhide company is being rushed to completion under the charge of ed rummel the old has been cleared the boiler and engine located and all the heave timbers are re on the ground there are now noar no ar about fifty men employed at the dollarhide mine and mill and at carrietown Carrie town mr will go to salt lake me coming week to select additional machinery for the new mill which will be made up to date in every respect it is the intention to add fine grinding machinery and additional tables so as to make the closest saving possible there are tons of carrie tailings to be treated so as to secure all the values in gold silver copper lead and zinc |
