Show J H NEVEN VISITS SALT LAKE the mining review enjoyed a visit last week from hon J H neven of reno nevada who was recently appointed state bullion tax collector for nevada by governor john sparks the object of mr nevens visit to salt lake at the present time was to meet with representatives of mining companies and mine owners of eastern and southwestern nevada and while here he collected bullion tax from the bamberger delamar of delamar the quartette of searchlight and the ellis at pioche on his return home mr neven will go by the way of las vegas the bullfrog country goldfield and tonopah To in speaking of his mission here mr neven stated that owners of producing mines as a general thing were quite willing to pay the tax imposed by the state while other mine owners would be glad to have the bullion upon which to pay tribute and he is of the opinion that a tax law similar to that recently enacted in nevada would be beneficial to the best interests of utah in reviewing conditions in nevada along mining lines mr neven stated that it begins to look as if the battle born state would soon take the lead in mineral pr production 0 in the west he is an intimate friend of governor sparks the chief owner in the great wedekind mine and who is also heavily interested in valuable properties in the kawich range and in several other of the new and promising camps of southwestern nevada the governor he states is putting in a fine waterworks water works system for the beautiful city of reno and that its completion will give this place an abundant supply of the best and purest of water mr neven has many warm friends in salt lake and also in ogden at one time his place of residence he is an able genial pleasant gentleman and is being given the glad hand wherever he goes |
