Show ON THE BARGAIN COUNTER at the present time when such a general interest is being taken the world over in mining affairs a great many properties may be found on the bargain counters in the commercial centers of the east and the west and surrounding them are anxious and eager buyers for the display is a tempting one and the desire is great on the part of the investor the capitalists and the man with a little ready cash in his pocket to get in on a good thing to get in on a great producer of mineral wealth to land a prospect which will develop into a bonanza the offerings on these bargain counters are most interesting to behold all seem to have their attractions some more so than others the displays are made by men frow proui all walks in life from the experienced mining operator the poorly dressed and long suffering prospector the bustling operator the sharper the fakir and the wildcatter wild catter to make a cholock is difficult as so many different features are presented so many claims made and so much depends upon the financial ability of the prospective buyer while inexperience and lack of the requisite knowledge causes a faltering that is sometimes pitiful to behold how can one decide which to take of the many different offerings here are some which ard are litte rally covered over with the names of judges admirals bank presidents and financiers many of whom would not know pow a mine if they should see one who to judge of the value are no more competent than they are able tc of a mining property in such cases it is discover the north pole whether the prospective investor a question as to is buying and paying for the standing of certain individuals or into a gilt edged mining proposition whether beneath the frosting there are ore bodies or only country rock there are other offerings that are but poorly displayed there are no frizzles on them and they are often given but scant notice their owners perchance having no desire or being unable to induce some bank president to lend his name for the purpose of illuminating this corner ot of the bargain table there are some offerings which are not all glitter aglitter a with gold old in its native state but which beneath their dingy appears appearance nce conceal a mint metallic wealth there are some come whose owners are so pov erty stricken that development has been carried out a little way but which chich with proper exploration and equipment might blossom out into genuine bonanzas in due time there are some still in the prospective stage whose intrinsic value are so apparent ap the motives of owners and promoters so honest and so unassailable that but little time is required to convince the buyer as to their legitimacy while there are others still around which a large crowd is always centered which fairly glisten that are such red hot propositions that most of their admirers generally retire with burnt fingers not all of the offerings on the bargain counters are good some of the best looking are only fakes many of those attracting but little attention at first are the best in the bunch and it is a wise man that can make a proper choice and at the same time protect his money and preserve his self respect how to choose is a difficult problem and its elucidation rests with the purchaser none of the offerings are going so quickly that time for investigation is lacang should there be an exception to this rule there are others and it is far better to miss one good opportunity through caution than to lose in a dozen others through undue haste as there will always be bargain counters and there will always be some good opportunities tuni ties among the offerings |
