Show MINING IN MEXICO salt lake man directing operations for J A coram butte intermountain J A coram of cf boston a mining man well known throughout the west and who is in butte at the present time and who with his associates owns the gold and silver properties of the mexico consolidated mining and smelting smelling Sm elting company in mexico has received a telegram from F C morehouse the engineer in charge of the property stating that the final consignment of machinery for the 70 ton mill which is to be erected has arrived and that the plant will be ready for operation by the last ot of october or the first of november the mines of the mexico consolidated company were originally purchased by mr coram for later acquisitions bringing the purchase price of the property now owned to more than a million and a half there is on the property a vein more than two miles long one mile of which has already been opened up in development work in august the ore cre extracted from development work alone all that has been done on the properties so far netted it was first exper exported ted tor for mr coram by A B hall formerly superintendent ot of the blue jay mine of butte who was killed in one of the mines of the consolidated only a few months ago another expert who was early on the ground was mr air morehouse of salt lake who is now in charge of the operations there the company has on the dump at the present time mr air coram states one and one halt half million of dollars wo worth rth of ore and in the mini mine there has been more than demonstrated in making his report ot of the work done during august mr morehouse in a letter to mr air coram received only rece recently antly states that during the month there was feet of lateral drifting on the vein which averaged 23 inches in width and which gave an average value of a ton the up raises run during that time measured feet the vein on which they were run averaged 19 inches in width the ore giving an average value of a ton in all of these workings the average width of the vein was 18 feet and the average value ot of the ore taken out a ton the 70 stamp mill which is being placed on the properties is in a way an experiment to demonstrate that the machinery purchased is the exact kind wanted and once this is demonstrated the plant will be doubled in size in his report fo tor august mr morehouse informs mr coram and his associates that tons of ore taken out gave a net return after deducting smelting smelling sm elting 0 charges transportation charges and waste of in its present state the property is valued at |
