Show montgomery SHOSHONE A WONDER special correspondence beatty beatt y nevada april 5 the story of the montgomery shoshone mines companas comp anys property at bullfrog nevada is so incredible that the bare facts seem clear out of the range of possibilities these claims four in number were located in september last and shortly thereafter a prospector in going over the ground discovered ore practically on the surface he went to montgomery and edwards the then owners of the property and got a proposition from them that they would give him a tenth interest in the group provided h he found ore on the same and of course knowing just where it was he was not long in reporting ore montgomery and edwards then proceeded proceed eff at once in the systematic development of the property which is located on the line between rhyolite and beatty three miles west of beatty and one mile east of rhyolite they started two tunnels and found ore in both of them the lower ono one now showing ore that is preno menal when the amount in sight is taken into consideration the face of the tunnel is now april ath in solid ore having gone through the orel body for a dit sance of fifty feet the average of which runs into the hundreds with no sorting and with no waste whatever from this tunnel a drift has been run to the west and at this writing Is in a distance of twenty eight feet the full faco of the drift five feet in width showing aver age assays essays from five average samples taken across the full face without any regard to the appearance of the ore of per ton and the assaying and sampling was done by a gentleman who has no connection with the mine in any capacity whatever it is now estimated and I 1 think conservatively that the average of this great body of shipping ore will run much better than 1000 par ton without any sorting several well known mining men have seen the property and pronounce it as the greatest showing within their knowledge for the amount of work done mr altman of colorado emerson gee of los angeles and F P N pletcher of goldfield have each expressed themselves as above and many others equally well versed in mining experience so declare the ore very much resembles the product of the goldfield mines and consists principally of talc with streaks of quartz the talc carrying flakes of quartz throughout besides the gold values there are very high values in chloride of silver some of the samples being so heavy in the latter as to make the ore almost as heavy as a chunk of high grade lead ore of similar size mr montgomery who owned nine awen of this bonanza recently obtained an option on mr edwards nine twentieths for which he promptly with the assistance si of malcom mcdonald and james B connor of colorado took up paying 10 down thirty thousand more is to be paid within thirty days and the balance is to be paid within a year the gross proceeds of the sale of all ores to apply on the purchase price this is the true story of the deal recently chronicled by a local paper bob mon montgomery was comparatively a poor man three months ago but today he would not be more than a week in closing out his less than one half interests in the montgomery shoshone mine for a cold million I 1 wish to state here that there Is absolutely no stock held outside of the four principal owners except a very few shares that mr montgomery promised some friends and that the price on these few shares was placed at per share the company is capitalized at shares mr montgomery is now loading all the freighters on their return to las vegas with the ores from the mine and expects that the salt lake smelters shelters sm elters will do the right thing by them otherwise he will ship to selby at san francisco A B GREESON |
