Show 1 1101 lei it I 1 ACTIVE IDAHO MINING CAMPS e I 1 special correspondence mining review gilel 11 MAIM lei 1 lei lei lei aliel lei lei lei lei beliel boise idaho may 25 the mining outlook has never been brighter hardly a day but records some rich discovery or reports a new strike in one or more of the steady old producers that have ranked idaho among the great mineral states of the west unprecedented activity is manifest in mining circles throughout the state and foreign as well as domestic capital is devoting its millions to exploiting rich and varied mineral resources the feve feverish Fish excitement incident to the first reports of phenomenal gold discoveries at thunder mountain in 1901 has been replaced among prospectors and mining men generally by a confidence born of a knowledge that the seeming fairy stories of that time really rested rented upon a substantial foundation which successful development of the properties in various sections of that great region is constantly demonstrating development work on the dewey is being steadily pushed with splendid results not only has the large body of low grade ore been found to increase with depth but some remarkably rich ore is now being mined from the original shoot the surface showing of which enlisted the interest and capital of the farsighted far sighted col dewey and made rich men of the cassells Ca swells it was only recently that the management determined to go to work on the surface for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not the rich ore found there had anything to do with a shoot that would be likely to extend down into the works below the result of this work is to show that the shoot continues into the mountain but follows an entirely different course than was formerly supposed quantities of this ore are now being mined and sent down to the mill in sacks as shipping in any other manner owing to its very high grade would entail great loss A big strike has also recently been made on the sunnyside Sunny side owned by a pittsburg at this writing the ore has been penetrated only a few feet but the body appears to be very large and values run all the way from to per ton although work on the sunnyside Sunny side has been prosecuted less than nine months 1700 feet of tunnels have been driven fully 1200 feet of which are in ore much of it being high grade the ledge upon which the rich discovery was made is about sixty feet wide and values have been running from 10 to 70 per ton development work on many other properties shows equally flattering prospects recent reports from loon creek in custer county tend to verify the first stories of the remarkably rich gold values of that region work on the lost packer mine the discovery of which brought the district into prominence has developed a change in the character of the ore that will necessitate a change iti in the plans of the company also the ore now carries chalco pyrite some of it being rich in copper and below the level of oxidization none of it is free milling hence it will be feces necessary sary to erect a smelter to treat the ore on the ground before constructing ting a mill which was the original intention of the company in the meantime the ore is to be carried by pack train to ouster custer a distance of twenty five miles from which place it will be freighted in wagons to the railroad at mackay there is enough ore already mined or in sight to keep the pack train busy all summer the pearl gold mining district near this city owing to its accessibility and convenience for shipping purposes and to the fact that sufficient development work has already been done on several of its properties to show up fine bodies of ore and insure the stability of the camp is attracting marked attention from capitalists several important investments have recently been made there and other deals are pending work has commenced on the blue bucket mine which was purchased a shott short time ago by the united states ledge mining company the plan of the operators is to sink a double compartment shaft at or near the vein to a depth or oi feet and explore the ledge on that level if the showing is satisfactory an electric hoist and pumps will be put in ia the shaft will be sunk deeper and the mine systematically developed the june mining milling company has ha s purchased a ten stamp mill for its group of claims in the black hornet district ada county the mill also a boiler and engine are now en route from chicago and are expected to arrive in boise in a few days they will be taken out and installed soon after their arrival the water to be used on the stamps will be supplied by three perennial springs in a gulch near by two shifts are now working on the june claim and a large quantity of ore is being sloped out ready for the mill FRED FLOED |
