Show v IN ATWOOD DISTRICT zo s bonanza tonopah To nev frank St stewart ewait is in from atwoods and lie jie spie speaks iks encouragingly of the mining conditions in that promising district on the sierra vista group of claims which is owned by him W J sinclair and T L oddie development is progressing favorably and vigorously the main work on the group has been confined to the gold C crown rown claim and in the shaft and drifts fine bodies of ore have been opened up the shaft is now down seventy five feet in ore ca carrying substantial values at forty five feet in the shaft drifts were started east and west and the latter is now in feet A six foot ledge was followed all the way wa Y and sixty feet in cross cuts were un run r in inthe the hanging wall opening up upa a new ledge six feet thick in the drift four feet of the ore samples 1380 and and two feet on the hanging wall runs 36 to the ton A now being sunk in the drift sixty feet from the shaft shows five feet of ore at the bottom and two feet of it samples in gold the balance being of a good milling quality to the end of the drift fifty feet f farther ar on ore was followed all of which carried good values though through it a pay streak ran f from rom which thirty tons of ore was secured that sampled to the ton at the end of the drift a fault was encountered and in prospecting for the plane a crosscut was run feet to the south and in its progress two more ledges one of five and the other of four feet in thickness were crossed both of these give average returns of from 9 to 10 in gold in running the east drift from the shaft another fault faul was met with but in following up the broken ledge matter for a distance of fifty feet the walls were finally found intact and revealed a threefoot three foot vein of ore that runs better than 10 to the ton on the red chief another claim belonging to the group a tunnel is being run to tap a ledge which on the surface and which w was sunk a few feet showed ore that assayed to the ton the tunnel nel is now in forty five feet and about half complete but in its course a number of stringers four to six inches wide have been cut and these all carry high values through the claims a strong water channel makes its way and wherever sunk on an abundance of water has been found sufficient for all purposes wood is also plentiful and this taken with the free milling millin character of the ore and the never failing supply of water which the country supports makes reduction practicable and economical and it is the intention of stewart sinclair and oddle oddie to erect a stamp mill on the property within the next few weeks on the hubner dunker pipes property six miles from the sierra vista some good ore is being extracted and ind indications Icat ions favor the opening up of a big mine |
