Show AMONG THE minta op OF A corr correspondent writing from eureka to the daily herald gives the following interesting account of several new strikes made in several of the leading mines and prospects of tintic gintic district of late A gig under underground girolAnd as the Cor cornishman would gouid say reveals a very adry satisfactory state of affairs in the mines of the district this thia week in each of them the ore show showing 1119 hat has improved over last week while a h very respectable spec table tonnage has been shipped at a profit ore teams tire are in demand all over the district while the tramways tram ways at the cen tennial eureka and the grand central and the ore chutes at the gemini and beck have been kept hot the star consolidated soli dated registered a most important change and ore is making its appearance appe arante in the black jack shaft which is being sent down to connect at a depth of 1200 feet with a chimney of ore bre that has already been opened and proven up by its neighbor the star Consolidate ds shipment of a carload of high grade gold ore has been the talk of the camp since its value became known it came from a drift about midway between the and foot levels in that part of the mine that has long been famous for rich pockets of auriferous rock and from a that promises generous proportions the from which this ore was taken is a continuation of the ore body on the level from which the management recently took several thousand dollars and which was continuous from that level down four cars from the in a distance of forty five feet bringing in a check for from the too a raise has connected with the same which was put up all the way in mineral the bins are again filled and loading is being very economically handled but eighteen men being employed in the mine shipments have been light at the carisa this week but it has not been for lacki of ore the leasers leaders nearly all made a cleanup last week while the company is taking out on oil its own account only the ore encountered in prospecting the new fissure which work is being prosecuted with a very small force the copper below the level continues to be the best thing in the mine the going down in the same excellent material of which almost a car is now in the bins every other shift a round of burleigh holes is put into the joseph crosscut cross cut on the level which is headed for the fissure about feet north of the point at which it was opened first on that level the management of the yankee continues to be reticent concerning conditions in n the incline which produced a car of mighty good ore last week apparently for the reason that it prefers if any errors are made to have them on the conservative gide around the camp the genera belief is that the ore chute I 1 is an aih independent one and can be relied upon for a big tonnage of clean ore it lies east dast of the old bid channel and further down the mhd hill and unless it proves to be a branch of the old channel should afford a big area of back backs it it is quite avi evident dent however that the official household expects the or ore to gb down a and n d to determine I 1 nd what the depths hold I 1 in I 1 n tord store for them thein the incline 1 is being pushed ahead without any effort to discover the width or length of the chimney which certainly can be depended upon for values above the average as evidenced by the mhd tont controls tol on mhd ta car r shipped which wils was sent out wit without holit sorting there are are also rumors of a rich gold strike above the tunnel level which may prove interesting within the next few days the yankee is well equipped and has a comfortable balance in the bank and it take an over sanguine mind to see dividends in the very near future the shipped three more cars this week and is now engaged in loading two more which will make inake a total of seven advin cars cairs since the ore was struck less than three weeks ago the two that are now being loaded are as good as any which have left the mine both foot and hanging walls have broken away and the ore body is consequently increasing in proportions as work progresses in the direction of the hanging wall the high percentage of lead values seems to give away to silver some of the rock running very high in the white metal and bob brown of the centennial eureka whose services are retained by the company in an advisory capacity expresses the belief that the hanging wall when it is found will contain a rich streak of quartz of the same character the little chief commenced loading a car of ore from the level yesterday and the management of the snowflake which it it is understood claims the deposit is within its lines will have a chance to do some business if it proposes to protest against the chiefs treasurer pulling down tue check not much credence is given the claims of the snowflake here by people who should know where the ore lies united states deputy surveyor vail came out from salt lake and made a survey wednesday and assured superintendent hannifan that he was well within his lines and as the fissure makes to the east on its course northward the company is assured of possession of its treasure in future operations in that part of the mine A night shift is to be put on at the gemi ixl ia tomorrow and it looks as if the big ore bodies in that bonanza are to be attacked in eari eardest est in the future additional boilers have been ordered for some time and are expected to arrive about the first of the month As soon as they are installed the main shaft is to be put down from the 1600 level for a distance of test feet another dividend is expected early in qc tober it 1 is said that the mine could easily be made madd to lifty ay siO der er month froth from its immense ore orb reserves erves rs |
