Show OUR SPECIAL ISSUE instead of getting out a holiday issue along the usual line in which nearly always bulk and size is the general feature and in which a great variety of subjects are treated in a random manner and often in a way unsatisfactory to the general public the mining review in this number presents something unique in mining journalism never before in the history of leading industry has any attempt been made to devote almost an entire issue of a publication to an exhaustive profound and illustrated description of the geology of our leading mining camps and for this reason it is believed that this number of the review will prove interesting as well as ab instructive tive and valuable to those who are interested te directly or indirectly in the mining industry of our fair state and of adjoining commonwealths productive of the precious metals the contributed articles on geological subjects in this issue are written by men who are emi eminent nent in their professions by well known geologists metallurgists and experienced perien perlen ced mining men they give evidence of much thought of much study and of much care in their preparation and furnish almost an exhaustless fund of valuable information upon the subjects treated other topics are ably discussed by specialists upon mining milling engineering and electrical matters which add materially to the value and importance of this number and this issue as a whole is without doubt the most valuable of any of similar character ever ema emanating emanations from this intermountain begoin the illustrated write up of the state school of mines is of unusual interest ana moment as it A gives the mining public the class reached by the mining review a good insight into the character alms aims and workings of this state institution in the success and prosperity of which every utahn should take an active interest and patriotic pride the article on the stock exchange is also interesting and instructive while the issue as a whole with its other features of merit and a lot of interesting miscellany proves that utah is capable of turning out a really good thing once in a while if not all of the time this may sound egotistical to some but it is the way we feel As a matter of fact we feel proud of this number proud of our fine list of contributors of the re and the 16 learning arning that their articles portray and proud of the mining and milling industry of this intermountain country that makes it possible to give to our readers such an issue as is herewith presented with this number of the review in some matters the publishers have been disappointed for instance the article on the geology of beaver county one of the richest and greatest mineralized portions of the state cannot be published in this issue the author dap dtp D P E M pleading lack of time for its preparation then again the article on geology of park valley is also omitted and for the same reason and also because the writer A H godbe metallurgist was unable to secure the proper and necessary determination of the material forming the huge dykes of that region this contribution with the one on beaver county will appear in one of our forthcoming issues the expected article on the geology of the la also failed to arrive in all other respects we have largely accomplished what we started 0 out u t to do we have spared no expense to make this the best publication of its kind ey ever er issued in the west and in this connection we desire to 3 express our hearty thanks to our contributors to whose kindly efforts effort silvery very largely is due the success of this number |
