Show THE HAGGARTY TRAMWAY cheyenne wyo industrial journal the southern wyoming aerial tramway connecting the ferris haggarty copper mine at battle lake with the boston wyoming smelter at grand encampment has been completed it is the longest aerial tramway in the world and the first one ever built connecting inland towns or towns not on a railroad along its line have been built the first double tension stations ever used on an aerial tramway these having been necessitated by the great strain to which the mammoth structure will be subjected in transporting the output of the ferris haggarty mine the tramway leschen patent was built by the minea mine smelter supply company of denver and the contract called for the completion of the project not later than october 1 buckets are now running each power station has been tested and everything is in readiness for sh shipment Dment of ore work on the tramway was commenced last spring there are four divisions of four miles each there are towers sixteen tension stations four of which are double feet of cable weighing pounds number of feet of timber used average number of men employed for six months actual cost the tramway is owned by the north american copper company which also owns the smelter electric light and power plant water works and bank at encampment the ferris haggarty mine and numerous other properties to hon willis george emerson is due the credit of having originated the idea of build ing this thia tramway and to emerson mccaffrey gary cary and knapp is due the credit of securing the necessary funds to construct it and of interesting capital which is now represented by the north american copper company which promises to brinz the grand encampment a degree of prosperity that will far exceed the vainest varnest dreams of even an optimist |
